Long Time, No See!     5 comments

Hello Everyone!!

Sorry it took me so long to blog about last week, its been a busy week!!

I did enjoy the visit to dad’s work last week though. Everyone kept saying how big I was getting. I can tell too! Its a whole lot easier for me to jump on the funiture in the lobby…dad doesn’t have to help me so much.

Lazy on the Table

Lazy on the Table

See what I mean? That was soooo comfy!

I met a really nice lady who dad said was a “Pet Communicator”, her real name was Kelly Goff. She had a stack of papers about my relationship with dad. She said we get along great and I look up to him! Very true!  Miss Kelly told dad that I don’t like people to talk about how big my paws are though…she might be right…I think they are swell!

I’m sure there was more about me in the appers but I was too lazy to read and there were too many things in the lobby to sniff and stare at.

Hi!

Hi!

I’m told Trainer Dennis is coming to see me again soon, I can’t wait. We always have a lot of fun when he visits.

Well until next week! See you all tomorrow on 11Alive!!

Too Cold To Play     5 comments

Hi everyone!

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to make it to the station this week.  Dad said something about it being too cold outside. I didn’t really know what he was talking about until I walked outside in the morning to “do my business”. Boy was it cold!! I didn’t waste much time playing outside. So instead I went inside and played with my sister, Mandy. And chewed on my favorite bone! I had dad take pictures to show you. Doesn’t it look yummy?

The Same Yummy Bone!Yummy Bone!!
I went to see my doctor this week for some shots to make me healthy. Guess what?  I am now five months old and I weigh 38 pounds!! :-)   I keep growing which is neat because I can reach more stuff up high! Especially when I jump up! Although I don’t think mom and dad likes that too much.

Well I’m gonna go finish my bone. Hope I can see you all in the studio next week!

Dad and Me!!

Dad and Me!!

WOW!! It has been a busy day! Traffic was horrible as we tried to get to the station on time. But Mom did great and we got there time! It seemed like so much longer, probably because I was really excited and wanted to go see all my friends at 11Alive! It has been THREE WHOLE WEEKS since I was there last…thats, like, more than a month!! (or close to it!)

Everyone noticed how big I have gotten! :-) Holiday dinners helped out with that too! Dad told me I weigh about 35 pounds! After he took this great picture of me and him he said he might not be able to lift me up anymore. Its ok though, I’m sure I’ll always fit on his lap!

While I was there I saw my friend Dennis. He was telling mom and dad I need to learn how to walk on a leash. I don’t know if it sounds fun, but I will try hard to get it down.

Check out the video below, which my editor friends helped get online. Its Dennis talking about how to be consiss…conssistent…consistent (that was hard!) with your dog.

Until next time, Woof!

When a Good Story Snowballs     1 comment

Monday’s story started like most of my local news stories, with a phone conversation. Mine went something like this:

Me: Hi, this is Julie from 11 Alive News. I heard about what you’re doing trying to collect throw-aways for foster kids and I want to do a story about it.

Kimberly: Really?!

Me: Yes, really.  Are you available now?

Kimberly: Now?!

A couple hours later, I was sitting in Kimberly Menhhofer’s kitchen.  I knew the basics of the story when I arrived on the doorstep, but at the end of our conversation (I never say interview, it feels too much like ‘interrogation’), I was awed.  She and her husband, Joe, have fostered 98 kids.  All of that despite Kimberly’s Multiple Sclerosis.  Her story aired Tuesday morning and again on our 7:00 newscast.  Wednesday, we played phone tag and by Friday, I finally talked to her.  She was in tears.  It turns out, our viewers rock.

They cleaned out closets, basements, and garages searching for donations. Joe has rented a U-Haul truck so he can make a meandering trip through Metro-Atlanta this weekend to pick up all of the donations.  I’ll be there to capture the follow-up and I’m thrilled.  I’m happy to see Kimberly’s selflessness rewarded.  I’m happy to see our viewers rise to the call for help.  I’m happy that a story we aired on 11 Alive can make our community a little better.  Most of all, I’m happy to report something happy in the midst of so much bad news.
