Greetings. Welcome to 11AliveBlogs.com. Here’s some things you’ll need to know:
- Why the change? We’ve moved over to WordPress for better functionality and a more full-featured, much easier-to-use blogging platform. Plus, on the old system no one could embed YouTube videos or do anything cool you see on other blogs. Now we can.
- Do I still have to log in? Not right now. You will have to give us a name and e-mail address each time you post a comment (you can tell your computer to remember this information, if you want), but we’re not requiring you to log in just yet. We implemented that on the old blogs because people have a tendency to do nasty things in the pool. If we see too much of that, we’ll be adding stronger comment moderation policies and, eventually, requiring you to log in. We hope that doesn’t happen.
- Where’s my avatar (the little picture next to my name in the comments)? WordPress has a neat partnership with a site called Gravatar. Go there, sign up, and upload an avatar. Or several. Whenever you post a comment with an e-mail address that matches the one on your Gravatar account, you’ll see your picture. Keep in mind, though, if your e-mail is awesomejeff@jeffsmithisawesome.com but you post as jeff.smith@multinationalcorporation.com, your avatar will not appear.
- So… I’m not logged in on 11Alive.com when I’m here? Unfortunately not. That’s why we’re not requiring you to log in. Feel free to use the same name you use on 11Alive.com, though.
- What if I want to log in? Well, you can’t. Not right now. If we implement a mandatory log in policy, you can do it then.
And now, here’s the most important question you’re probably asking: where’s my favorite 11Alive blog?
At the very top of the right column, it says Choose a Blog to Read. That’s where they all are.
