It’s almost summertime, and I finally got a chance to come back and visit all my friends at 11Alive. And what’s summertime without my dad and Backyard Weather?
Dad brought me to this year’s first BW, which is right here at 11Alive.
There’s Dad with the guys who are working the grill. They have chicken, pork, and ribs, and I even got to eat some… though I had to wait my turn, just like everyone else.
This is some of the stuff they put on the barbecue.
Everyone at the station walked in on Dad’s weather report just to get their share. I got mine pretty close to the start, and it was awesome.
Steven, who’s normally working with Valerie, took some video of me hanging out, and as soon as I learn how to use the system Dad uses to put up his video, I’ll post it here on my blog.
I got stuff! Check out the swag the kids from AMCA in Alpharetta sent me: dog biscuits and tennis balls, and even better, enough to share with Mandy (my sister, who you may have heard of).
Me, with my stuff from the kids at AMCA in Alpharetta.
Now that the weather’s getting warmer, it’s more fun to do stuff outside, and last night I got to be on TV again and be outside at the same time, which was pretty awesome. Me, Dad, and Dennis were out in the little garden spot outside 11Alive. Dennis talked about dogs who bark too much.
He wasn’t talking about me. Really.
If you forgot to watch or DVR me on TV last night, you can watch it right here:
You think pollen bothers your sinuses? Y’know what it did when I rolled around outside and it got all in my fur?
Let me give you a little hint:
A spray bottle? Really?
Yep. I needed a BATH. Big-time. As you can see, I wasn’t too thrilled. I guess the washing was okay, but is this the face of a happy dog at the drying station?
This is my nonplussed face.
Dad says that if I roll around outside in the pollen and the dirt, this is what I have to expect. I’m not sure if I like water yet — I was talking to Dad’s friend Josh from 11Alive, and Josh said his golden, when he was a kid, was afraid to go swimming. It’s an option.
That’s really the most exciting thing that’s happened to me lately. I know some of you have been asking where I’ve been; well, with everything going on at home and Dad taking a few days off work, I haven’t been able to get to the station. Don’t worry; I’m still here. Not sure if Dad will be able to bring me by next week, but we’ll see.
Oh, and one more thing: check out this hilarious video I found on YouTube. This dog really loves baths, huh?
I was all set to come to the station tonight to see everyone, but Mom’s not feeling too good, so I’m going to stay home and take care of her. See you next time!

Y’know why I love going to 11Alive? Because everyone there is so happy to see me, and even if I mess up my behavior, there’s always another person who wants to pet me and tell me I’m a good dog.
Me at 11Alive on February 26
My friend Josh from 11Alive’s web department took a bunch of pictures last night while I was greeting my faithful fans before going on TV, and he put them up on my webpage. Click here to go see them. (You’ll have to scroll down a bit.)
And here’s video of me, Dad, Dennis, and Mom from the news last night, in case you missed it.
I just wish Dad would stop telling everyone how much I weigh…
Stay safe this weekend; Dad says there’s probably going to be some bad weather. If that happens, I’m totally watching him on TV.

I had an awesome Saturday night. Want to know why? Do you?
Well, I’m going to tell you anyway.
I was one of the special guests at the first “Adopt-a-Golden Gala” at the Cobb Energy Center this weekend. They say it’s because my dad was the emcee for the event, but I think it’s just because I’m cool.
Me and my fans at the Adopt-a-Golden Gala.
Anyway, I learned a lot about the special people who rescue dogs who look like me and help nurse them back to health. I also met a lot of people who already seemed to know a whole lot about me. I guess they saw me on TV.
Oh, and check this out: I actually was told I could hang out near the head table! At home sometimes when I smell dinner Mom and Dad tell me to go lay down somewhere, or get out of the kitchen, but here I could totally stay right up front and show off.
Dad says I get to come to the TV station Thursday. These days I’m usually on during The Evening News with my friend Brenda Wood, which is at 7 p.m., so tune in for that show. I’ll see you then!
Doppler, 2/23/09
PS: If you want to help out Adopt-a-Golden Atlanta, here’s their website. Turn your speakers down first if you’re at work, because someone’s barking in the background. I can’t figure out who, and believe me, I’ve done some serious sniffing.

“Go cover storm clean-up.” It’s a command we often hear as journalists during severe weather season in Atlanta. In our walk through the wreckage, we often uncover stories of survival, sadness, and sometimes even humor. Thursday, my trip to Brooks, Georgia veered down the lane of dark comedy. The day started at 3:00 AM.I drove out to Brooks (where? I asked the assignment desk) to meet our overnight photographer, JoJo.Â
Live shot troubles lead us to meet in a gas station parking lot (the nightmare of any local news reporter– but what can you do?). Except JoJo (who is always punctual) left me waiting. I thought this would be a great time to use the gas station restroom. It was motion-sensitive, but apparently not that tuned into movements. It plunged me into the darkness and left me waving my arms frantically around inside the stall. I promptly jammed my hand into the corner of the paper dispenser and now have a weird shaped bruise on my hand.Â
It turns out JoJo was late because he got stuck in the mud after shooting some storm damage. Industrious as he is, he gathered up downed branches and pine straw, shoved it under his wheels, and made it in time for a 5:00 AM hit.Â
JoJo's pointing to the mud splatter!
It wasn’t until our 6:00 AM hit that things started getting really weird. Our light was blowing around and almost tipped over. Jojo looked a little confused. It turns out, a stray dog stole our bright orange sand bag and was happily chewing on it nearby. When my IFB wouldn’t work (it’s how we hear the anchors and producers talk to us), I checked the cord and was astonished to see the dog and chewed right through it. Despite all of this, JoJo still gave the stray his breakfast left-overs.Â
Later that day, my camera went on strike (refusing to shoot for more than 5 seconds at a time), and our second live truck AND our satellite truck got stuck in the mud. Thanks to all those nice folks in Spalding County for towing us out — 3 different trucks, 3 different times.  In fact, that’s what stuck with me the most. Despite getting almost no sleep after a stormy night, everyone (from neighbors to police officers to utility crews) went out of their way to be nice. A big storm helps us put things in perspective: what’s really important? Some crews might have lost it out there, covered in mud. Personally, I thought it was kind of funny.

I made my triumphant return to 11Alive last night. Did you see it?
Aw, come on, how could you miss it? Brenda gave me a nice intro and everything!
My friend Shawn, one of the producers, took this picture of me too:
Showing off on my lead.
I’m on almost every Thursday, either at 6:00 or 7:00 in the evening. Sometimes Dad and me hang out with Dennis, and other times we meet people like pet psychics. It just depends.

Three cheers — or woofs — for the warm weather! When it was so cold out, I couldn’t go out to play, but now that it’s finally getting a little warmer, I can go outside all the time. It’s great.
There’s just one thing… the yard. It doesn’t seem quite as big as it used to. Maybe this photo will help explain:
Waiting by the door.
When I can’t go outside, I’m usually right there by the front door, waiting to go outside with Mandy and Dad. But while I’ve been waiting, I’ve been learning to walk on a leash, and also to sit and stay. I don’t mind it so much because when I do it, I get treats. That’s always a plus.
Dad says I’m going to be on TV on Thursday. Dennis is coming back from Belgium — he went there to pick up a new friend — and he should be here with us. I’ll see you then!
Sorry it took me so long to blog about last week, its been a busy week!!
I did enjoy the visit to dad’s work last week though. Everyone kept saying how big I was getting. I can tell too! Its a whole lot easier for me to jump on the funiture in the lobby…dad doesn’t have to help me so much.
Lazy on the Table
See what I mean? That was soooo comfy!
I met a really nice lady who dad said was a “Pet Communicator”, her real name was Kelly Goff. She had a stack of papers about my relationship with dad. She said we get along great and I look up to him! Very true! Miss Kelly told dad that I don’t like people to talk about how big my paws are though…she might be right…I think they are swell!
I’m sure there was more about me in the appers but I was too lazy to read and there were too many things in the lobby to sniff and stare at.
Hi!
I’m told Trainer Dennis is coming to see me again soon, I can’t wait. We always have a lot of fun when he visits.
Well until next week! See you all tomorrow on 11Alive!!
I’m sorry I wasn’t able to make it to the station this week. Dad said something about it being too cold outside. I didn’t really know what he was talking about until I walked outside in the morning to “do my business”. Boy was it cold!! I didn’t waste much time playing outside. So instead I went inside and played with my sister, Mandy. And chewed on my favorite bone! I had dad take pictures to show you. Doesn’t it look yummy?
I went to see my doctor this week for some shots to make me healthy. Guess what? I am now five months old and I weigh 38 pounds!!  I keep growing which is neat because I can reach more stuff up high! Especially when I jump up! Although I don’t think mom and dad likes that too much.
Well I’m gonna go finish my bone. Hope I can see you all in the studio next week!
WOW!! It has been a busy day! Traffic was horrible as we tried to get to the station on time. But Mom did great and we got there time! It seemed like so much longer, probably because I was really excited and wanted to go see all my friends at 11Alive! It has been THREE WHOLE WEEKS since I was there last…thats, like, more than a month!! (or close to it!)
Everyone noticed how big I have gotten! Holiday dinners helped out with that too! Dad told me I weigh about 35 pounds! After he took this great picture of me and him he said he might not be able to lift me up anymore. Its ok though, I’m sure I’ll always fit on his lap!
While I was there I saw my friend Dennis. He was telling mom and dad I need to learn how to walk on a leash. I don’t know if it sounds fun, but I will try hard to get it down.
Check out the video below, which my editor friends helped get online. Its Dennis talking about how to be consiss…conssistent…consistent (that was hard!) with your dog.

I’ve had a really busy holiday, which is why you haven’t heard from me lately. My whole house smells like food, and yet I only get the same stuff in my bowl over and over. Something’s unfair about that. But I’m trying to be a good dog, so I haven’t snuck food off the table.
Doppler (on the right) with Mandy
I’m getting almost tall enough to, though. Check out this picture of me (on the right) next to Mandy, who lived here already when I showed up. Look how big I am!
Know what else? I can jump up on Mom and Dad’s bed without any help, either. Of course, they probably don’t want me to do it if I’m all stinky, but I guess if I have a… um… b. a. t. h. it’ll be okay.
So last night Dad and I were walking through the backyard when we saw a big dog walking around too. I wish I could’ve gotten a picture, but I didn’t have my camera — okay, Dad didn’t have his camera — but he said it wasn’t a dog. It was a deer.
I didn’t chase it. It was way bigger than me.
Here’s a picture of me with my favorite Christmas gift. I got a lot of them — my first Christmas, y’know — but this one is the one I liked best.

Doppler the Weather Dog with 11Alive's Josh Roseman
I had a nice visit at 11Alive yesterday. I got to meet all sorts of new people, and hung out with my friend Josh, who helped make my website and my blog. That’s him over on the right. It took a while to get him trained to sit and smile on command, but we pulled it off.
My friend Dennis also was on TV with me, and he talked about what to do if your friend (the one with paws, not the one with feet) has trouble doing his or her business outside. I was going to tell you about it, but instead, why don’t you just watch the video? It’s not too long. I promise.
I wish I knew more about what happened, but I decided it was more important for me to take a nap, as you could see at the end of the video.
Keep an eye on my page; Dad took a little video of me at home, learning how to not eat the Christmas decorations. We tried to post it yesterday, but it didn’t work right. Maybe Dennis can help train our computer, too.

Pensive Pup
I was all set to go on the 6:00 news with Dad, but when Judge Bodiford said all that stuff just before, I knew it wasn’t going to happen. That’s okay; I still had a good time.
I’m really looking forward to being on the air on Thursday. My friend Dennis will be at the station too, so if you have questions about helping your friends be good dogs, you can send them from my website.
Dennis and I got to hang out this weekend. I’m working on coming when called, which is important, because sometimes when Dad or the family call me, there are treats. I love treats!
Everyone cross your fingers — or claws — that there won’t be any breaking news on Thursday, because I really want to be on TV again! Dad’s work has so many interesting smells!
