Spending Monday shopping online? Here are some ways to maximize your savings.
If you launch your shopping trip from a site like ebates.com or mypoints.com you can get rebates on top of what you already save. Some rebates are as high as 15%.
Use retailmenot.com to find coupon codes and free shipping. However, retail expert Fatima Mehdikarimi suggests online shoppers google the company at which they plan to shop along with the phrase “promo code.” (For example: Home Depot promo code) Mehdikarimi said she often finds deeper discounts than the code compilation sites offer.
Before you make a purchase compare prices using tools like pricegrabber.com.
Since quantities are often limited on deeply discounted items, register in advance at the online stores where you plan to shop. That way, you won’t have to start an account before you check out.
With some sales, even if you have an item in your cyber shopping cart, it can disappear into someone else’s if you don’t check out quickly.
To avoid a lot of cumbersome typing use sites like roboform.com. You only have to fill out your name, address and other information once. After that, roboform.com will fill out forms with just one click. The service offers a free version as well as Roboform pro, which you have to pay for.
And remember prices can change by the hour. Sign up for email alerts on cybermonday.com

Face book giveaways appear to be the new trend in marketing. The Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurant chain is giving customers a coupon for a free lasagna lunch if they become of fan of the restaurant on Facebook. The lasagna coupon is good on one day only: July 29th.
A long list of National Parks are offering free admission July 18th and 19th, including the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area on Roberts Drive. The Park normally charges $3.00 per person.
Participating Borders Book Stores are having Sponge Bob Parties on Saturday July 18th at 2 pm.
Also for the kids, there’s a Toots Live party at the Mall of Georgia in Buford from 3pm to 8pm. Toots Live is an interactive website for children featuring singing elephants. The party will feature costumed characters, inflatables and activities.
There is also a free Decorator’s Show House in Cobb County. Greenhaven is billed as metro Atlanta’s first environmentally friendly decorator’s show house and is now open for tours.
And those who are willing to give something back to their community can get a free or deeply discounted night at one of any participating Sage hotels including the Doubletree Atlanta. All you have to do is volunteer 8 hours for a non profit that is a registered 501 C3 and have written proof from the organization. Availability is limited and some hotels are giving 50 percent off.
The promotion is called Give a Day, Get a Night.

There is a brand new blog out there that I LOVE! http://www.iheartpublix.com/ This is the brainchild of Douglasville resident Michelle Atwood, who has been featured on 11Alive News twice. Michelle started a coupon club in Douglas county and also participated in a grocery shopping makover with us back around November. Her new blog tells you what’s on sale at publix and where to get all the coupons to maximize the deals. You can even print the coupons right from her website. Go Michelle!
I’m off to speak at the Save More Than Money Workshop in Alpharetta!

Hey All!
I did a recent story on local bloggers who are helping all of us save money, and I have a couple more to add to the list of ones that are worth reading.
Southerncouponbell.com is the brainchild of Traci Rogers of Cherokee County. Traci is a great couponer and bargain shopper and her blog is informative and also cute!
Traci is part of a class on Saving Money that will be held April 15th at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church from 6:30 to 8:15 PM.
A 10.00 donation to the Church’s Moms of Preschoolers group is requested from those who attend. For more information check out traci’s blog.
You can also go the Church’s Website for info http://www.hmumc.org/events.aspx?id=39
Also Michelle Atwood, who gained fame on 11Alive last year when she bought a huge cart of groceries for A QUARTER is putting her talents to use in a brand new blog. This one focuses on Publix and how to maximize your savings there. http://www.iheartpublix.com/
Michelle NEVER misses a deal, and she does her deals with two small boys in tow!!
One other GREAT blog is not local but sure is helpful: http://neverpayretailagain.blogspot.com/
And btw, if you were wondering how long a sealed bag of Mini M and M’s will last inside a little plastic Easter egg, I am here to tell you At Least a Year if it stored in the Basement with Easter Decorations. As we were putting treats in eggs last night, D and I came across several eggs that were still full of last year’s loot. He was the guinea pig.. said they were fine.
Not recommending.. just sharing, for what it’s worth.
